STAC Field Hockey Falls to Adelphi, 4-0

Garden City, N.Y. – The St. Thomas Aquinas College Field Hockey team was defeated by NE10 foe Adelphi University 4-0 at Motamed Field in Garden City on Tuesday evening.

In a rematch of the 2019 Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinal, which saw the Spartans defeat the Panthers 2-1 in double overtime, Adelphi was on the attack from the opening faceoff in this one. The Panthers tallied 10 shots in the first quarter, with Kaylee Deleva putting one home on a netmouth scrum with help from teammate Jackie Brown to make it 1-0.

Second quarter action saw the Panthers post six additional shots and a Danielle Kempf unassisted tally to double the AU lead at 2-0 by halftime.

After the break, Deleva would pick up her second of the contest, with another assist credited to Brown off of a penalty corner to increase the Adelphi lead to 3-0.

In the final quarter of the match, Adelphi's Giana McKeough would tip home a Kaylee Deleva cross-field pass to give AU a commanding 4-0 advantage that would hold to the final buzzer.
