New Haven, Conn. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Field Hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday afternoon at Jess Dow Field. The loss dropped the Spartan to 3-6 (1-3 NE10), while the Owls improved to 4-6 (3-3 NE10).
How it Happened
- STAC dominated the first half, outshooting Southern Connecticut 18-0, but were unable to solve Owls netminder Kaitlyn Parent. Parent stopped all eight shots put on net in the first 30 minutes of action
- SCSU opened the scoring in the 36th minute, as Tori Geaglone carried the ball into the circle before splitting a pair of defenders to find the stick of teammate Trinidad Rodriguez Ricchiuti. Rodriguez Ricchiuti took the pass from Geaglone to her left and then fired a shot by Spartan goalkeeper Jessie Hohenstein to make it 1-0.
- The Owls doubled their lead at 2-0 moments later, in the 37th minute, when Tori Geaglone converted on a penalty stroke.
- Southern Connecticut tallied the match's final goal in the 41st minute, with Kiley Jackson picking off a pass just below midfield and handing the ball off to Tori Geaglone. Geaglone found a seam up the middle of the field and rifled a feed to Abigail Kellerman in the circle. Kellerman spun away from the keeper and chipped a shot past a defender to give SCSU a 3-0 lead.

- Adriana Alfisi led the Spartans in shots with seven, while Jasmijn Van Drunen registered five shots and Nicola Van Vuuren four.
