Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Field Hockey team fell to the Bentley University, 3-0, on Saturday at Spartan Field The loss drops the Spartans to 3-5 (1-2 NE10), while the Falcons improve to 5-5 (3-2 NE10).

How it Happened

  • The teams played a scoreless first quarter, with STAC posting two shots and Bentley earning one.
  • Lida Coco tallied the game's first goal at three minute mark of the second quarter, taking a pass from teammate Caroline Szatkowski up the middle past several defenders and depositing a strike to the back of the cage past keeper Madeline Schaefer to make it 1-0 Falcons.
  • Bentley doubled its lead just 1:43 later, as off of a penalty corner and an ensuing scrum in front of the net, Caroline Szatkowski took possession of the ball and rifled a shot home to give the Falcons a 2-0 advantage.
  • The visitors began the second half quickly, netting their third goal of the match in the first three minutes of the third quarter, as Megan Hayes would pick up control of the ball off another penalty corner clash and send a shot to the back of the net, making it 3-0.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas would put up a valient effort, earning several penalty corner opportunities throughout the game and turned those into quality chances that either just went wide/high of the cage or were stopped by Bentley netminders Erin McGuinness and Mia Trottie.
