Nicola Van Vuuren Takes Home NE10 Field Hockey Fall Academic All-Conference Team Honors

On Wednesday, the Northeast-10 Conference released its Academic All-Conference teams for the 2023 fall season, as the league recognized outstanding student-athletes for their academic and athletic excellence.

St. Thomas Aquinas College's Nicola Van Vuuren was honored by the NE10 for their successes both on the field and inside of the classroom for the sport of Women's Field Hockey.

Nicola Van Vuuren (Jr./Pretoria Gauteng, South Africa) led the Spartans in goals (11), assists (6), points (28) and shots taken (66) over 18 games played this past season. Van Vuuren is majoring in Exercise Science, while also working on a minor in Psychology in her junior year at STAC.

The Northeast-10 Conference recognized a total of 108 outstanding student-athletes from seven sports for their academic and athletic excellence.

To be eligible for selection to NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following minimum requirements:

  • Started in at least half or played in at least two-thirds of the team's competitions as a significant contributor.
  • Achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) or better on a 4.0 scale.

Each NE10 institution, as well as two associate members of the Conference, had at least one student-athlete named to the Academic All-Conference teams. For a full list of honorees, please CLICK HERE.
