Field Hockey Topped By Defending National Champs East Stroudsburg, 7-1

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Field Hockey team opened the home portion of its 2023 schedule on Saturday, hosting defending Division II National Champions, East Stroudsburg University at Spartan Field. The visiting Warriors would net four first half goals enroute to 7-1 victory over the Spartans.

Hanna Lewis recorded at hat trick for ESU, while teammates Madison Kline, Grace Lesh, Lia Parker and Jady Van Gils also netted goals. Adriana Alfisi picked up her first goal of the season for St. Thomas Aquinas, batting in a deflected pass by Erin Bacalles in the second quarter to put STAC on the scoreboard.

In goal, Amy Supey (W, 1-0) got the start for the Warriors and allowed a goal on the only shot that she faced over 45 minutes of action, before being replaced by Jet Vermeulen, who stopped both shots that she saw in the final quarter. Carlijn De Groot (L, 0-2) went the distance in the cage for the Spartans and made 7 stops on 14 shots.
