Goalie Carlijn De Groot of the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Field Hockey team has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Week, following the Spartans 2-0 week on the pitch.
De Groot allowed just two goals and made 16 total saves in two matches against Southern Connecticut State and Saint Michael's last week to help St. Thomas Aquinas to consecutive victories for the first time this season. The Eindhoven, Netherlands native made eight saves in a 3-1 win over the Owls and another eight saves in a 4-1 win over the Purple Knights in NE10 play.
STAC (3-11, 3-6 NE10) hits the road for its next three matches, first visiting Mercy University on Wednesday, October 18. The NE10 tilt between the Spartans and Mavericks gets underway at 3:00 p.m. in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
