STAC Field Hockey Drops Season Opener to Bloomsburg, 5-0

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Field Hockey team dropped its 2024 season opener to Bloomsburg University by the score of 5-0 on Saturday morning at Spartan Field.

STAC slips to 1-0 on the year, while Bloomsburg improves to 2-0.

The visiting Huskies outshot St. Thomas Aquinas by a 16-2 margin, with seven shots making their way to the cage. Genna Bush tallied a pair of goals in the contest, while teammates Jordan Bond, Kate Ferguson and Aydan McFarland added to the totals with a goal apiece.

Lily Schommer and Madelyn Verstraten led the STAC offensive opportunities with a shot apiece. One of those shots reached the cage and was turned away by Bloomsburg's Jackie Nevel (W, 2-0), who earned her first shutout of the young campaign.

Ailsa Ogilvie (L, 0-1) got her first start in the net for the maroon and gold and made two saves on seven shots faced. Madeline Schaefer came on in relief in the fourth quarter, and did not face a shot.
