How it Happened
- Saint Anselm took an early 1-0 lead as a scramble in front of the cage led Amanda Lewandowski to find teammate Stephanie Sutton-Brown for a shot that trickled by goalie Ailsa Ogilvie and to the back of the net.
- A penalty corner insert by Maddie Davis allowed her to find Abby Breznyak, who slipped a pass back to Davis at the side of the cage for a soft tapper past Ogilvie to double the Hawks lead at 2-0.
- Another penalty corner opportunity by Saint Anselm's Maddie Davis reached the stick of Abby Breznyak, who fed Chloe Kapsambelis for a blast through the legs of Ailsa Ogilvie for the third goal of the opening quarter to make it 3-0.
- STAC got on the scoreboard in the second quarter as Phileine Langeveld's high, rising shot at the front of the net was deflected under the crossbar and past goalie Sidney Falterer by Madelyn Verstraten to cut the maroon and gold deficit to 3-1.
- In the fourth quarter, Laurentien van den Akker was awarded a penalty stroke and converted the attempt to retake a three-goal lead at 4-1.
- The Spartans cut the Hawks lead back to two, when Hailey Galison's penalty corner insert reached Nicola Van Vuuren who rocketed a shot back toward the net. Galison's timing was everything, because she was able to make her way to the front of the cage to redirect the Van Vuuren shot past Falterer to make it 4-2.
