Spartans Finish NCAA Championship, 18th in the Country

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team completed their final round of the Division II NCAA Championship.  This was the first time in program history that STAC has competed in the National Championship.  The Spartans finished 18th with a four day team score of 1261.  Sophomore Chris Fitzpatrick finished tied for 33rd with a four day score of 300.  Fitzpatrick scored a 78 in his final round after playing even par on Thursday. 

Senior Patrick Schwarze shot his tournament low on Friday posting a 74 in his final collegiate match.  Schwarze finished with a total score of 319 (83, 79, 83, 74).  Fellow senior Brian Viola finished his final tournament with a four day total of 322 (82, 75, 79, 86).  Junior Sean Campbell and freshman John Casey finished with total scores of 329 and 333 respectfully. 

This group has raised the bar for furture Spartans and with the return of Fitzpatrick, Campbell and Casey STAC will look to return to the NCAA Championships next year.
