Spartans Finish in 4th After Round 1 of NCAA Regionals

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team finished in 4th place in the first round of the NCAA Super Regionals at Hershey Country Club East Course.  The Spartans finished with a team score of 312, led by Thomas Linehan's 1-over par, 72.  Linehan is in a three way tie for first place.  Mike Gunderson shot a 77 and is tied for 14th place. 

Linehan shot 1-under through his first nine and then had back to back birdies to start off the back nine.  The Spartans are 11 strokes off the leader, Wilmington and only 2 strokes behind the 3rd place team, UMass-Lowell.  John Casey carded an 80 in his opening round, finishing the day off with 4 pars. 

Jat Barry and Nick Delango shot 83 and 84 respectively.  The Spartans will tee off starting at 12:00 noon tomorrow.  The second round will consist of 18 holes and the final round will be played on Wednesday.
