The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Golf team finished in 2nd place during their 12th annual Spring Invitational Tournament at Rum Pointe, G.C. in Berlin, MD. The Spartans came out firing in round one, posting the low score of the tournament with a stellar 293. Mike Gunderson's led the charge with a superb round of 69 (-3).
Senior John Casey carded a solid round of 74 while Tommy Linehan posted a nice round of 75. Rounding out the day one scoring, was freshman Jay Scarpa who posted a solid round of 77. Nick Delango and Jay Barry (individual) posted rounds of 81.
In round two, the Spartans struggled with the cold and windy conditions. Gunderson led the team once again with a solid round of 75 while John Casey posted a round of 77. Nick Delango rebounded from a tough first round to card a 77. Rounding out the team scoring for the second round was Tommy Linehan who posted a round of 81.
Jay Scarpa finished with a round of 84 while Jay Barry posted a nice round of 78 playing as an individual. The Spartans second round 310 left them with a two-day score of 605, which was two shots behind the champions from Dowling College.
