Spartans Finish 14th After Difficult Day on the Links

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team had a tough second round at the Kiawah Island Fall Invitational. With morning rain and heavy winds, the Spartans struggled as a team. Leading the team on day two was sophomore Niklas Koerner, who was the only Spartan to shot a sub-80 round, posting a 78.

Junior Tommy Linehan, freshmen Kai Rastetter and fellow freshman Anthony Berardo each carded rounds of 81. The teams day 2 score of 321 dropped them down in the tournament from 5th place to 14th place out of the 19 team field. Coach Ferrara said "although we are dissappointed with today's round, we can walk away knowing that we can play with the best teams in the country on any given day." He added "we haven't played our best golf yet."

The Spartans are back in action this weekend at the Gannon University Invitational which is being hosted a Peek n' Peak resort's Upper Course. The Upper Course hosted the Nationwide tour's Peek n' Peak Classic from 2002-2007.
