Spartans Tied for 2nd After Opening Round of NCAA Regionals

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team finished tied for 2nd place after the opening round of the 2015 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships.  The Spartans entered as the top seed from the East Region and will compete again on Tuesday afternoon at the Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

Kai Rastetter finished at three over par for the Spartans shooting 75, including three birdies. Rastetter finished tied for 9th place overall after day one. Chris Gentle shot a 77, birding the 10th and 11th holes and is tied for 16th place overall.  

Niklas Koerner and Colby Lewis round out the scorers for the Spartans shooting 78 and 79 respectively.  STAC finsihed with a team score of 309 putting them in a three way tie for second place; along with Charleston and Wilmington.  

Indianan University of PA is currently in the lead posting a team score of 306.  The Spartans will tee off at noon on Tuesday.
