Spartans Finish 4th at Penmen Invitational

The St. Thomas Aquinas men’s golf finished 4th this weekend at the SNHU Penmen Invitational at Hanover Country Club. The Spartans found themselves in 4th place after the first round of play after shooting a team score of 297.

In the final round of play, the Spartans improved by eight shots, shooting a season low score of 289. Leading the charge was Travis Fay who finished as the low Spartan for a second consecutive week. Fay’s rounds of 71-72 were good for leaving him tied in 9th place. Shkelqim Kukaj had a steady weekend carding rounds of 72 and 74 leaving him tied in 19th place.

Jake Yarmolowitz played a great round of golf today carding a 71. His two day total of 147 (76-71) was good for a T23 finish. Tom Holmes also bounced back from a tough first round to post 72 leaving him tied for 41st at 151 (79-72).

Jack Phillips rounded out the team scoring with a final round 76. His 2-day score of 154 (78-86) was good for a T50 finish. Freshman Joseph Tammaro saw his first collegiate action playing as an individual, carding rounds of 78-77.

The team’s 2-day score of 586 (297-289) was good for a 4th place finish behind the champions from Franklin Pierce University.  The team is back on the links this weekend at the AIC Yellow Jacket Invitational.
