Spartans Finish 7th at Post Invitational

The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's golf team finished 7th this week at the Eagle Invitational hosted at Watertown Country Club in Conneticut. The team had their worst performace of the year during the first round of play, struggling to a team score of 319. Freshman Jake Yarmolowitz and Joe Tammaro were the lone Spartans to break 80, both shooting rounds of 79. Junior Shkelqim Kukaj struggled to a 9 over par 80, while Travis Fay and Tom Holmes both posted scores of 81. After their disappointing round, the team sat in 9th place.

In the second round of play each member improved from their round 1 score. Leading the way was freshman Jake Yarmolowitz who improved by 10 shots. Yarmolowitz carded his low round of the year with a sensational 69 vaulting him up the leaderboard to a T7 finish. Shkelqim Kukaj managed to improve by 6 shots, carding a round of 74 which was good for a T32 finish. Tom Holmes and Travis Fay each managed to shave 5 shots off their first round scores, posting matching 76's, while Joe Tammaro carded a round of 78. The Spartans round 2 score of 295 was the 2nd best round of the day and  24 shots better than their round 1 performance. The team was able to move up 2 places in the 12 team field to finish 7th.

The Spartans are back in action for their final event of the fall at the Cal University Vulcan Invitational at Totteridge Golf Club in southwestern PA.
