Groppuso's Final-Round 75 Concludes NCAA D2 Golf Championship

Warren, Ohio - St. Thomas Aquinas College golfer Donte Groppuso shot a 75 in the final round of the 2023 NCAA Division II National Championship at the Avalon Lakes Golf Club in Ohio. Groppuso shot one-over par on the front nine and then two-over on the back nine to put him at three-over par for the day. The junior from Kingston, N.Y. wrapped up his finals appearance tied for 40th place on leaderboard, with five other collegiate competitors, at +5 overall after 54 holes of stroke play.

Groppuso began his final day of competition with a bogey on the par 4 first hole and then proceeded to par his next three holes (2-4), before bogeying on hole five. Donte recovered on the remainder of the front nine with a birdie on number six, while shooting for par on holes seven through nine to be at +1.

Unfortunately, a bit of bad luck struck Groppuso to start his back nine play, as he bogied on the tenth hole to move to 2-over par. Donte then righted the ship with consecutive par scores on holes 11 through 13. A double bogie on number 14, put the Spartan linksman at +4 with four holes remaining in the tournament. Groppuso shot for par on 15, 16 and 17, before finishing with a birdie on the 18th hole to close the day at 3-over par.
