Four Spartans Earn 2023 Ping Golf All-East Region Honors

Norman, Oklahoma - On Thursday, Division II PING All-Region honorees were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) to coincide with the start of the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship. Nearly 100 players across eight regions - East, Atlantic, Southeast, South, Midwest, South Central, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2023.

Spartans Djaia Darrason, Donte Groppuso, Tanner Little and Nolan Skaggs were selected to the East Region Team. All four men played integral rolls in the Spartans' outstanding season, which included a fifth place finish at the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional.

The 2022-2023 season was a huge success for St. Thomas Aquinas College and was highlighted by eleven-top 10 team finishes in the regular season, with the Spartans finishing in the top five in ten of those events and placing first at the SUNY Farmingdale State College George Cangero Invitational and St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Shootout.

At the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional, St. Thomas Aquinas placed fifth overall, finishing the three-day regional event with a total team score of 903, which was 39 over par. However, Junior Donte Groppuso punched his ticket to the upcoming NCAA Division II National Championship (May 22-26), maintaining the top individual spot throughout the tournament and finishing at -4 (212) over 54 holes.
