Mens Golf 9th in Opening Spring Event at Wingate’s Ralph Hargett Memorial

Monroe, N.C. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Golf team opened their spring campaign down at the Wingate University Ralph Hargrett Memorial tournament in Monroe, NC. The Spartans finished 9th with a 3-day score of 907 after rounds of 299-307-301. 

Tanner Little was the low Spartan on the weekend posting a 3-day score of 224. Little carded rounds of 73 and 77 during the first day and finished off the event posting a round of 74. Right behind Little was sophomore Nolan Skaggs who carded a 225 total. Skaggs struggled on day 1, shooting 78-76, but bounced back nicely to card a 1-under par 71 in his final round of the event. Donte Groppuso was next at 228. Groppuso played nicely on day 1, shooting rounds of 73 and 76, but struggles in his final round, shooting an 83. Djaia Darrason finished the event at 233 behind scores of 78-78-77, while Jarred Huggins rounded out the team scoring with rounds of 75-79-79.

The Spartans look to improve on their play next week at The Trojan hosted by Mt. Olive down in Goldsboro, NC.
