Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Columbia University Autumn Invitational

Lake Placid, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Golf team headed north to the beautiful Lake Placid Club in Lake Placid, NY for the Autumn Invitational hosted by Columbia University. 

During the first round of play, the Spartans completed 36 holes of golf. The team posted rounds of 291 and 293 during those two rounds. In the first round, Nolan Skaggs and Diego Ocasio led the way posting impressive rounds of 72. In his first action of the fall, Djaia Darrason battled to shoot 73 while junior Tanner Little shot 74. Rounding out the team scoring was Juan Ignacio Simon who shot an opeing round 75.

In the second 18 of the day, Tanner Little played brilliantly, shooting a round of 67. Diego Ocasio backed up his excellent first round with an even par 71. Nolan Skaggs and Juan Ignacio Simon managed to card rounds of 76 and 78 respectively, while Djaia Darrason struggled, shooting a 79.

In the final round of the event, the Spartans struggled shooting a collective score of 300. Nolan Skaggs and Djaia Darrason posted matching scores of 74. Juan Ignacio Simon and Tanner Little carded scores of 78 and freshman Diego Ocasio put up a score of 79.

The team's 3-round score of 884 (291-293-300) was good for an 8th place finish in the all Division I event. STAC is back in action next Monday and Tuesday (October 9 & 10) at the Post University Eagle's Invitational at Watertown Country Club.
