Wheeling, W.Va. - The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Golf team wrapped up the regular season with an eighth place finish in the Division II East/Atlantic Regional Preview at Ogelbay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
During the first round of play, the team was led by Tanner Little who posted a score of 74. Right behind Little was freshman Diego Ocasio who carded a 75. Juan Ignacio Simon was the next low Spartan shooting a 76, while Djaia Darrason put up a 77. Nolan Skaggs rounded out the scoring with a first-round score of 78. The team's score of 302 left them in a tie for eighth place after round one.
In the second round, the entire field struggled with higher winds, fast greens, and difficult pin placements. Nolan Skaggs bounced back nicely with a final-round 75 while Tanner Little fired a 76. Djaia Darrason struggled late to shoot 80 while Juan Ignacio Simon and Diego Ocasio struggled shooting final round scores of 83. The team's score of 314 left them in eighth place among the 26 teams participating.
STAC will be back in action at the same course in two weeks at the NCAA East/Atlantic Super Regional. The top five teams out of the 20-team field will advance to the NCAA National Championship at the Orange County National Golf Club in Winter Garden, Florida.
