St. Thomas Aquinas men's basketball team lost at Dowling, 80-58. Sophomore Ra'Shad James had 19 points while freshman Justin Brown added 13 points and five rebounds.
Dowling took a 29-16 lead behind a layup from David Segears with 5:49 remaining in the first half. The Spartans went on a 12-2 run closing to within three before Dowling rattled off seven points in the final two minutes of the half to take an eight point lead into the break, 38-30.
Mike Hill scored with 10:09 left in the game putting the Golden Lions up fourteen before Vincent Johnson scored back to back baskets bringing STAC within ten. Johnson scored another layup followed by a free throw from Brown making the score, 58-50 with 6:32 left in the game. However, Dowling closed the game out with a 22-8 run. Johnson finished with 8 points and 4 rebounds.
The Spartans will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Mercy College.
