Pioneers Too Strong for Spartans

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's basketball team fell to C.W. Post, 82-61.  Justin Brown had 17 points and 6 rebounds for STAC.  Jason Halloway added 13 points while Jamie Blanchard had 10 points on 5-8 shooting from the floor.  Nick Lopez dished out 5 assists to go with his 5 points and 6 rebounds.

The Pioneers got out to a 17-8 lead in the first half and never trailed throughout the game.  A layup by Billy Butler gave C.W. Post a 43-28 lead at halftime.  Halloway had 8 points in the first half on 3-4 shooting from the floor and 2-2 from the line.  Stefan Bonneau had 22 of his 27 points in the first half for the Pioneers.

Halloway drained a 3-pointer at 18:32 in the second half to bring STAC within ten, 43-33, however the Spartans would not get any closer.  The Pioneers used a 19-3 run in the middle of the half to take their largest lead of the game, 76-48.  C.W. Post had five players reach double figures led by Bonneau.  Dane Dixon and Irin Stark each added 6 points for the Spartans.

The Spartans will return to action on Wednesday when they face Bridgeport for their final home game at 7:30 p.m.  Wednesday's game will be senior night for Jamie Blanchard and Shawn Weaver.
