STAC Men's Basketball Falls at Bridgeport, 72-59

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's basketball team fell to a 72-59 defeat at the University of Bridgeport in an East Coast Conference contest. Sean James led the Spartans with 18 points as STAC fell to 3-12 overall, 3-4 in conference play. Bridgeport improved to 10-8, 6-2.

Bridgeport took charge early, with an 8-0 burst staking them to a 10-2 advantage. That lead would remain in the home team's hands for the rest of the half, with the margin varying between four and 12 points before UB claimed a 40-30 lead at the break.

STAC would come no closer the rest of the way, as UB extended their lead to as many as 21 points before a 9-1 spurt by the Spartans to close the game made the final score closer. Justin Brown posted 14 points for the Spartans while Omar Kellman added nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Bridgeport's Darian David led all scorers with 24 points.

The Spartans return to Aquinas Hall this Wednesday, January 23, when the host the LIU-Post Pioneers in an ECC tilt. The game is set to start at approximately 7:30 pm, after the completion of the women's game.
