Anderson and Watler Named DII All Met Selections

St. Thomas Aquinas head men's basketball coach, Tobin Anderson was named the DII All-Met Coach of the Year announced by the Met Writers Basketball Association.  Sophomore Chaz Watler was named to the DII All-Met First Team.

Anderson, who also was named East Coast Conference coach of the year, guided the Spartans to a 17-3 conference mark and a 21-11 overall record (improving from 15-14 last season). STAC won the ECC regular season title, then lost the final game in the conference tournament.

Watler was also an ECC 1st team selection after leading the Spartans with 15.1 points per game. Watler shot 51% from the floor and 42% from behind the arc this season while dishing out 79 assists and he had 50 steals.

The Spartans were second in the ECC in steals per game (8.1), and fourth each in field goal shooting (45.3%), free throw percentage (71.0%) and assists per game (13.3), while allowing the fourth fewest points in the conference. After two seasons at STAC, Anderson, a Wesleyan grad (1995) with a Master's from Florida State, has a 36-25 coaching record.
