Selection Sunday: ECC Champ Spartans Earn #5 Seed, Face #4 St. Anselm at LeMoyne

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's basketball team will make it's second straight NCAA Division II Tournament appearance, drawing the #5 seed to square off with #4 St. Anselm at 7:30 pm at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY. The Spartans enter the 64-team national field with a 25-5 record, having won 15-of-16 overall and capturing their second consecutive East Coast Conference Championship, while St. Anselm upset the field to earn the Northeast-10 Tournament title.

STAC will take on the Hawks in the Regional Quarter-Final on Saturday, March 11 (time TBD), with the winner advancing to the semi-finals against the LeMoyne-Merrimack Victor at 7:30 on Sunday. The regional final will be on Tuesday, March 14, with the winner advancing to the NCAA Division II Elite 8 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Saturday's game will be a rematch of last year's East Region semi-final, which saw St. Anselm earn a hard-fought 77-73 decision. The Spartans had advanced via a buzzer-beating first-round victory of Southern Connecticut State.

In other pairings in the East, top seeded LeMoyne will host #8 Merrimack, #2 Southern New Hampshire will meet #7 Southern Connecticut, and #3 Saint Rose takes on #6 Bloomfield.
