Spartans Drop Third Straight as Bloomfield Rallies, 83-72

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's basketball team fell to an 83-72 setback in a non-conference game at Aquinas Hall. The Spartans have now lost three straight and stand at 10-3 overall, while Bloomfield improved to 8-5.

STAC bolted from the gate to an early in jumping to a 20-8 lead, but Bloomfield trimmed the margin to 40-33 at halftime. The lead changed hands several times through the middle stages of the second half, but the Bears hit three-pointers on five straight shots over a span of less than two minutes, three by Nick Davidson and two by Ahmid Williams, to give the visitors a stunning 71-63 lead, setting the tone for the comeback win.

Justin Reyes led all scorers in pacing STAC with 20 points, with Jon Lawton adding 17. Rakwan Kelly had the hot hand for Bloomfield with 18, as Davidson and Marcus Fleming contributed 17 each.

The Spartans return to East Coast Conference action on Wednesday, January 3, traveling to face Daemen College. They then come back to Aquinas Hall to host Queens College on Saturday, January 7.

St. Thomas Aquinas College and the Department of Athletics wishes you and yours a safe, happy, and healthy New Year!
