Reyes Named CCA East Region Player-of-the-Year

St. Thomas Aquinas College men's basketball standout Justin Reyes has been named the East Region Player of the Year by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA).

Though his redshirt senior season came to a close last weekend, Reyes is still in line for more accolades to be announced. He averaged 22.2 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game, leading the Spartans to their third straight East Coast Conference championship, and third straight NCAA Tournament Appearance. He also earned his third straight ECC Player of the Year award and was named Most Outstanding Player in this year's ECC Tourney title run for the Spartans.

Reyes is still in consideration for All-American honors and for the second straight year is among the 50 finalists for the Bevo Francis Award for excellence in Small College Basketball, with that list set to be trimmed to 25 national finalists this Thursday, March 15. Justin led the Spartans to a 26-7 record this season and an incredible 102-29 mark, for a .779 winning percentage.

His career total of 2,247 points established a new All-Time Scoring record in East Coast Conference history, dating to the league's formation (as the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference) in 1989. It also placed him 2nd All-Time among scorers in STAC history by just 17 points, and the lead scorer in the program's Division II era.
