The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's basketball team, in search of its fourth straight East Coast Conference Tournament Championship, had three players earn conference post-season honors. The Spartans begin their post-season quest in the ECC tourney semi-finals, facing Molloy on Saturday, March 9, at 7:30 pm at the University of Bridgeport.

=================================

Demetre Roberts - East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year/2nd Team All-Conference - Demetre has been a key part of the success of this year's "new look" Spartans attack. The 5-8 freshman from Mount Vernon, NY, has started all 28 STAC games to date, averaging over 31 minutes of playing time per contest. His 11.4 points per game places him third in the STAC offense, and he is currently 6th in the conference in assists, averaging 3.1 per contest. Among his season highlights, Demetre was named Rookie of the Week five times, pumped in a season-high 22 points in a December 5 win at Mercy, and his 84% shooting from the foul line is second in the conference, including many clutch free throws in the waning moments of close victories.

Osbel Caraballo - 1st Team All-Conference - Osbel's tremendous athleticism was on display from his first moments on the Aquinas Hall hardwood as his 13.3 ppg led the second-seeded Spartans. Another talented freshman, the native of Bolivar, Venezuela, also started in all 28 STAC contests. Not only was he named ECC Rookie of the Week on three occasions, but his 35 point explosion at Adelphi on December 30 led to Player of the Week honors for the week of January 2, and he added another for the week of January 22.

Sekou Cisse - 3rd Team All-Conference - Another vital cog in the multi-faceted STAC attack, Sekou has played in important role both as a starter and coming off the bench. Coming in as a junior transfer from Otero Junior College in Colorado, the Harlem, NY, native was briefly sidelined by injury but appeared in 25 of STAC's 28 games, starting in 11. He's currently second on the squad with 11.5 ppg, and his 7.4 rebounds per game also places him second in that category. Sekou had a breakout game against Queens on January 16, as his 28 points propelled the Spartans to a tough 88-82 home victory.
