Osbel Caraballo Picks Up ECC & Met Writers Men's Basketball Player of the Week Honors

St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Basketball player Osbel Caraballo was named both the East Coast Conference and Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week, following the Spartans 2-0 week on the hardwood.

Caraballo averaged 25.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in two contests (Feb. 19 at Queens College: W, 80-58 and Feb. 22 vs. New York Tech: W, 105-92) last week. The sophomore forward from Bolivar, Venezuela shot 78.6% (22-for-28) from the field, 100.0% (2-for-2) from three and 83.3% (5-for-6) from the foul line. Osbel also picked up 3 assists and 3 steals for the Spartans.

The #2 NCAA Division II East Region ranked Spartans (22-4 overall, 12-2 ECC) now hit the road for a showdown between the two top-ranked teams in the East, as the Spartans take on top-ranked University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, February 26. They return to Aquinas Hall to close out the regular season against the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday, February 29, with start time approximately 3:00 pm. Senior Day festivities will precede the contest.
