Wilmington, Del. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team put up 49 second-half points enroute to a 95-70 road victory over Goldey-Beacom College on Sunday afternoon at the Joseph West Jones Center.

STAC moves to 5-1 on the season, while Goldey-Beacom falls to 2-3.

Antonio Vendola led the way for the Spartans, posting 23 points, while Jamal Barnes (15 points), Kyle Pulliam (13 points), Luis Risquez (11 points) and Kyle Jones (10 points & 12 rebounds) also scored in double-figures.

STAC shot 45.5 percent from the field (35-77) and 41.2 percent from three (14-34), while Goldey-Beacom shot 32.9 percent (24-73) from the floor.

STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:

• Ten STAC players recorded double-digit minutes in the contest. 
• DeVante Jamison returned from injury to lead the Spartans with eight assists on the day.
• Antonio Vendola made 9 of his 17 field goal attempts, 5-of-11 from three, while Jamal Barnes went 5-for-10 from the floor and 5-of-8 from behind the arc.
• STAC out rebounded Goldey-Beacom by a margin of 54-42, with Kyle Jones grabbing a game-high 12 boards.
• St. Thomas Aquinas picked up nine steals in the contest, with the Lightning turning the ball over on 18 separate occasions.
• The Spartans earned advantages in five team statistical categories over Goldey-Beacom: Points off of Turnovers (29-25), Second Chance Points (18-17), Points in the Paint (38-36), Fastbreak Points (15-13) and Bench Points (40-31).
• The game featured one tie and two lead changes.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Goldey-Beacom opened the contest with an 8-2 run, before the Spartans pushed the tempo and went on a 14-0 run of their own to take a 16-8 lead with just under 13 and a half minutes to go in the first half.
• The Spartans expanded their lead to eight (18-10), but the Lightning worked to cut the deficit to just one (20-19) at the halfway point of the frame.
• Back and forth action saw Goldey-Beacom finally catch STAC on the scoreboard at 30-30, forcing the visitors to call a time out to settle the troops with six minutes left before halftime.
• A final 16-7 run by the Spartans gave them an nine-point advantage, 46-37, as the teams retreated to their respective locker rooms for the break.
• Antonio Vendola paced the Spartans offense with 10 first-half points, while Tyshon Judge led all scorers with 13 points for the Lightning.
• STAC came back from the intermission, scoring the first five points of the new half to take a 51-37 lead.
• The Lighning then scored five points of their own to cut the advantage back to nine (51-42).
• A 15-4 scoring streak by the visitors in maroon and gold over a four and a half minute span, and led by Vasilis Tolias (3 pts), Jordan Greem (2 pts), Kyle Jones (4 pts), Richard Smith (2 pts), Antonio Vendola (2 pts) and Luis Risquez (2 pts), gave STAC a 20-point lead at 66-46.
• Jamal Barnes' trey with 11:35 to play gave St. Thomas Aquinas its largest lead of the afternoon (25 points), to make it 74-49.
• Goldey-Beacom's 9-0 run over the next three minutes got them back within 16 (74-58) with 8:47 left to play.
• STAC continued to add to its totals, getting back to a pair of 20 point advantages (82-62 & 88-68), before dropping the hammer to finish the non-conference tilt up by 25 points (95-70).
