
Amherst, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team could not keep up with a high-octane No.7/6 ranked Daemen University squad on Friday evening, falling 84-55 at Lumsden Gymnasium.
STAC drops back to the .500 mark at 5-5 overall, while also slipping to 0-2 in ECC play. With the win, Daemen remains undefeated and moves to 8-0 and 3-0.
Troy'reon Ramos led maroon and gold offense with 14 points, while Hartnel Haye (11 points) also scored in double figures. Justin Glover led all scorers, dropping 20 points for the host Wildcats.
St. Thomas Aquinas shot 40.4 percent from the field (21-52), while Daemen shot 61.1 percent (33-54) from the floor and 52.6 percent from beyond the arc (10-19).
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Eight Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
- Troy'reon Ramos led the maroon and gold with three assists on the evening.
- Ramos hit 6 of his 10 field goal attempts, while also going 2-of-3 from long range. Meanwhile, Hartnel Haye went 5-for-12 from the floor.
- Daemen out-rebounded STAC by a 38-23 margin, with Luis Risquez grabbing a team-high five boards for the Spartans.
- St. Thomas Aquinas picked up eight steals, with the Wildcats turning the ball over on 22 separate occasions.
- The game featured two ties and three lead changes.
- STAC's largest lead came in the opening minutes of Friday's contest, when the Spartans led by four points, 9-5 on a Troy'reon Ramos jumper.
- St. Thomas Aquinas trailed Daemen, 44-23 at the half and shot just 36.0 percent (9-of-25) from the field.
- Troy'reon Ramos led all Spartans scorers with seven first half points, while shooting 75.0 percent (3-of-4) from the floor.
DAEMEN NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Nine Wildcats logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
- Justin Glover led all scorers with 20 points for Daemen. Teammates Zach Philipkoski (12 points), Ryan Heath (11 points) and Andrew Mason (10 points) also scored in double figures.
- Ryan Salzberg and Zach Philipkoski led Daemen with four assists apiece on the night.
- Justin Glover went 8-for-9 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the three-point line, with Philipkoski hitting 5 of his 6 field goal attempts and 2-of-3 from three-point range.
- Benjamin Bill grabbed a game-high eight boards for the Wildcats.
- Daemen picked up 10 steals, with the Spartans turning the ball over on 21 separate occasions.
- The Wildcats earned advantages in five team statistical categories over St. Thomas Aquinas: Points off Turnovers (27-15), Second Chance Points (13-11), Points in the Paint (40-22), Fastbreak Points (21-11) and Bench Points (40-10).
- Daemen's largest lead of the contest (41 points) came in the final six minutes of the contest, when the Wildcats took a 78-37 advantage on a Ronnie Williams three-point jumper.
- Justin Glover and Zach Philipkoski led all scorers with 10 first half points apiece for the Wildcats, while shooting 100.0 percent each from the field (4-for-4).
- As a team, Daemen shot 75.0 percent from the floor (18-of-24) and 66.7 percent from long range (6-of-9) in the first half, while outscoring STAC 44-23 in the frame.
