Four Score In Double Figures, As STAC Men's Basketball Downs Crosstown Rivals Dominican, 103-89

Orangeburg, N.Y. - In a meeting of Rockland Country collegiate crosstown rivals separated by less than a mile and a half, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team delivered a 103-89 thumping of Dominican University on Friday evening at the Hennessy Center.

STAC improves to 4-3 on the year with the victory, while Dominican slips back to the .500 mark at 2-2.

Hartnel Haye posted a team-leading 19-point effort for the maroon and gold, while teammates Troy'reon Ramos (12 points), Tyshon Judge (10 points) and Derrick James (10 points) also made significant contributions to the Spartans' totals, with each scoring in double figures. Meanwhile, Isaiah Honis led all scorers on the evening, dropping 25 points for the host Chargers.

STAC shot a blistering 58.2 percent from the field (39-67) and 58.3 percent (7-12) from beyond the arc, while Dominican shot 38.7 percent (29-75) from the floor.

STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Eight Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the non-conference contest. 
  • Derrick James led the maroon and gold with seven assists on the night.
