Rochester, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team got back to their winning ways on Sunday afternoon by dismantling Roberts Wesleyan University, 89-67, at the Voller Athletic Center in Western New York.
STAC improves to 15-7 overall and 7-2 in ECC play, while Roberts Wesleyan falls 8-12 and 5-5.
Luis Risquez recorded a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 13 rebounds for the maroon and gold, while teammates Shaun Arnold (15 points), Troy'reon Ramos (14 points) and Tyshon Judge (11 points) also factored in the Spartans' totals with each scoring in double figures. Meanwhile, Malik Brooks led all scorers tallying 22 points for the host Redhawks.
STAC shot 43.6 percent from the field (34-78), while Roberts Wesleyan shot 43.4 percent (23-53) from the floor.
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Ten Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the conference contest.
- Derrick James led the maroon and gold with three assists on the day.
- Luis Risquez hit 4 of his 9 field goal attempts and 6-of-7 free throws. Meanwhile, Shaun Arnold went 6-of-10 from the floor.
- STAC out-rebounded Roberts Wesleyan by a 45-34 margin, with Luis Risquez also grabbing a game-high 13 boards for the Spartans.
- St. Thomas Aquinas swiped 12 steals, with the Redhawks turning the ball over on 23 separate occasions.
- The Spartans earned advantages in five team statistical categories over Roberts Wesleyan: Points off Turnovers (26-9), Second Chance Points (21-5), Points in the Paint (48-34), Fastbreak Points (7-6) and Bench Points (32-10).
- The game featured two ties and one lead change.
- STAC's largest lead of the game came with just under a minute to play in the contest, when Spartans led by 27 points, 89-62, on a Daouda Traore layup.
- St. Thomas Aquinas led Roberts Wesleyan 39-26 going into the halftime locker room.
- Luis Risquez led all Spartans scorers with eight first half points, while shooting 60.0 percent (3-of-5) from the floor.
- STAC's best shooting half came in the second, as the Spartans shot 45.0 percent (18-40) from the field.

- Eight Redhawks logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
- Malik Brooks led Roberts Wesleyan with 22 points, while Jermaine Taggart II (14 points) and Arnardo Camacho (13 points) also scored in double figures.
- Arnardo Camacho and Ryan Garwood each led Roberts Wesleyan with two assists apiece on the afternoon.
- Brooks went 7-for-11 from the floor, 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and 6-for-8 from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, Taggart II went 4-for-10 from the field.
- Arnardo Camacho also grabbed a team-high 11 boards for the Redhawks.
- Roberts Wesleyan picked up seven steals, with the Spartans turning the ball over on 13 separate occasions.
- Malik Brooks led all scorers with 11 first half points for the Redhawks, while shooting 57.1 percent (4-for-7) from field.
- Roberts Wesleyan's best shooting half also came in the second, as the Redhawks shot 61.5 percent (16-26) from the field and 50.0 percent (4-8) from beyond the arc.
