STAC Men's Basketball Remains Ranked No. 6 In Final NCAA Division II East Region Poll

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team remains ranked No. 6 in the East Region as the final NCAA Division II Men's Basketball poll before Selection Sunday was released on Wednesday evening. Following STAC's regular season finale last weekend against Mercy University, the Spartans hold the second seed in the upcoming ECC Men's Basketball Tournament and own an impressive 22-8 overall record and a 13-3 mark in the conference.

Around the ECC, undefeated Daemen University holds the No. 1 position in this week's table, with no other conference teams cracking the top 10.

Eight teams will be represent the East Region in this season's NCAA Tournament, with automatic bids going to tournament champions from the East Coast Conference (ECC), Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), and the Northeast-10 Conference (NE10), and the remaining five berths being awarded on an at-large basis. Daemen (ECC) sits atop this week's poll with Adelphi University (NE10), Pace University (NE10) and Southern New Hampshire University (NE10) rounding out the top four.

STAC earned a bye into the semifinal round of the ECC Men's Basketball Tournament, which will be held at Lumsden Gymnasium on the campus of Daemen University on March 8-9. The Spartans open up conference tournament play on Saturday, March 8 against No. 3 Queens College, with the opening tip set for 7:30 p.m. in Amherest, New York. Following the crowning of a champion by the ECC, NCAA brackets and locations will be announced for regional tournament play, which takes place March 15-18, with the Elite Eight to be held from March 25-29 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
