STAC Ice Hockey Ranked 35th In First ACHA National Poll

In the first Men's Division III National Poll of the season, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Ice Hockey team has been ranked 35th by the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). This follows the Spartans 4-3 start to the 2024-2025 campaign, with key victories over York College (4-3), Western Connecticut State University (6-3), New Jersey Institute of Technology (9-5) and two-time defending MCHC champions Sacred Heart University (4-2).

The maroon and gold are led by sophomore Andrew Fenninger with 5 goals and 12 assists (17 points), freshman Anthony Prunty with 9 goals and 6 assists (15 points) and freshman Jason Desalvo with 3 goals and 12 assists (15 points) over the first seven games. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the puck, goaltender Michael Pippo has a 2-2 record with a 5.16 goals against average and a .910 save percentage, appearing in four regular season contests played to date. Teammate Theo Morris has the Spartans other two victories (2-1), while posting a 5.13 goals against average and an .873 save percentage over five games.

The team's offense scores 4.71 goals per game, while their defense & goaltending lets up an average of 5.14 goals per game.

St. Thomas Aquinas (4-3-0, 3-0-0 MCHC) heads to the Keystone State for its next three games, as the Spartans face Central Maine Community College (Friday, November 1 - 9:15 p.m.), York College (Saturday, November 2 - 4:00 p.m) and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Sunday, November 3 - 11:00 a.m.) in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) showcase at Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston, Pennsylvania.
