The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team earned a 13-7 victory over Division I Hampton University on Saturday afternoon.  Briele Caples had 5 goals and 4 assists for the Spartans.

The early part of the game saw a lot of back and forth action between the two teams with the Spartans getting on the scoreboard first with a goal from Caples off an assist from Joseph Nyemchek.  The Pirates added two goals to finish the 1st quarter with a 2-1 lead.

Nyle Worrell evened things out with the first goal of the 2nd quarter.  Darrell Kidd gave the Pirates back the lead for the final time at the 10:44 mark in the 2nd quarter.  The Spartan attack came on strong shortly after with two more goals from Caples; assisted by Kevin Alvora and Tyler Senatore. Nyemchek added the Spartans third goal in a row to extend their lead to 5-3.

Senatore finished the half with a goal off an assist from Caples giving the Spartans 6-4 lead at the break.

The Pirates were able to even things up scoring the first two goals of the 3rd quarter but that was as close as they would get.  The Spartans scored seven out of the next eight goals for the game. Steven Odam, Rob Hornberger and Luke Madry each added a goal for the Spartans who had seven different goal scorers.
