Spartans Struggle Against NYIT; Falling 17-7

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team lost to NYIT, 17-7 on Wednesday afternoon. Briele Caples and Tyler Senatore each scored two goals for the Spartans.

The Bears got out to a strong start scoring six goals in the 1st quarter and thirteen overall for the first half.  Leroy Halftown and Will Kistinger each scored two goals in the opening quarter. 

Kevin Alvora scored the Spartans first goal at the 10:53 mark in the 2nd quarter.  Caples quickly followed with his first goal of the game.  The Bears held a 13-2 advantage at the half with 26 shot attempts to the Spartans 12.

The shot attempts were more balnaced in the second half with the Bears holding a 21-19 advantage.  Senatore acored off an assist from Caples in the 3rd quarter.  STAC outscored the Bears 4-2 in the final quarter with Senatore and Caples adding their second goals as well as goals from Brenton Mighty and Joseph Nyemchek.

Ryan Guild had seven saves in the loss playing while Ryan Donovan had six saves splitting the time in goal.  The Spartans will host Division I Hampton on Saturday at noon.
