Spartans Fall in OT at Post, 8-7

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team put up a tough fight but fell to Post University, 8-7 in overtime on Wednesday afternoon.  Briele Caples scored four goals and had one assist for the Spartans who battled from behind to force the overtime session.  

Post University dominated the first half outscoring the Spartans 6-2.  STAC had posted just one goal in each of the first two quarters despite having equal amount of shot attempts as the host team. Tyler Senatore connected at the 1:48 mark in the first quarter and Caples scored with 6:33 left in the half.

The second half was a different story as the Spartans continued their attack; this time having 18 shots to the Eagles 8.  STAC connected on five of those attempts; three from Caples, another goal from Senatore and one from Brenton Mighty.  STAC scored three 4th quarter goals with Caples last goal coming with just 1:22 left in the game to even things up at 7-7.  

Trevor Buchas scored the Eagles only second half goal which was enough to keep them alive and then went on to score his second goal of the game during the overtime session to give them the win.  

Ryan Guild recorded 14 saves for the Spartans picking up his first loss of the season.  

The Spartans will look to redeem themselves against cross town rivals Dominican College on Saturday.  Game time is slated for a noon start.
