Lions Edge Spartans, 11-10 in Overtime

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team lost to Molloy, 11-10 in overtime on Saturday. John La Bella scored two goals for the Spartans including the game tying goal to force overtime.

Jack Egan scored two goals for the Lions to take a 2-0 lead.  Tyler Senatore and La Bella each scored to tie the game up at 2-2.  The Lions scored the first three goals of the second quarter before Chris Howell and Senatore added goals for the Spartans.  

Third quarter goals from Kevin Alvora and Edward Kelly gave the Spartans their first lead, 6-5.  Back to back goals from Steven Odam and Kelly extended the Spartans lead to 8-5.  The Lions added two more goals before Brenton Mighty scored to give STAC a 9-7 lead after three quarter. 

The Lions scored the first three goals of the final quarter regaining the lead, 10-9 before La Bella's game tying goal with 8:55 remaining in the game.  Kevin Pastier scored the game winning goal for the Lions in the overtime session.  

Ryan Mello recorded 10 saves for the Spartans.  STAC will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Dominican for a 4:00 p.m. game.
