The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Lacrosse team dropped their ECC opener to Molloy College, 18-4 on Saturday afternoon in Rockville Centre. Tom Chiapperino scored two goals, while Tyler Senatore and Tim Zimnoch contributed a goal apiece to the Spartans' offense.
The Lions got off to a strong start netting the first seven goals of the game, before Tyler Senatore put the Spartans on the scoreboard with just over three and a half minutes to go in the first quarter.
STAC was able to keep the momentum to open the second quarter, as Tom Chiapperino posted back-to-back goals to make it a four-goal deficit at 7-3. However, Molloy would score the next five goals of the quarter to extend their lead to 12-3 at the half.
Molloy would do all of the scoring in the third quarter, posting four more goals to make it a 16-3 game.
In the fourth and final quarter of play, the Spartans would try to chip away at the Lions' lead, as Tim Zimnoch would open the scoring to make it 16-4, before Molloy would close things out by scoring twice more to finalize their victory at 18-4.
Ryan Guild (0-3) got the start in net for STAC and recorded 12 saves. Giorgio D'Angelo and Craig Peavy would relieve Guild in the fourth quarter and surrender a goal apiece on a combined 4 shots faced.
Molloy had a 44-33 shots advantage for the game.
The Spartans will next travel to Georgian Court University for a non-conference matchup with the Lions on Tuesday, April 13 at 3:30pm.
