Men's Lacrosse Falls to Roberts Wesleyan 26-4

The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Lacrosse team fell to Roberts Wesleyan College, 26-4 on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field in Sparkill, NY. Tyler Senatore scored two goals, while Hayden Olcott and Timothy Zimnoch tallied a goal apiece for the Spartans. 

Roberts Wesleyan stormed out of the gates in the first quarter, scoring the only eight goals of the stanza, as Matt Gademske (2 goals), Jordon Deats (2 goals), Michael Pierog (2 goals), Hunter Lemieux (1 goal) and Dan Doviak (1 goal) each scored to make it 8-0 after one.

Second quarter action saw more of the same from the visiting Redhawks, as they would score seven more times, while continuing to keep the Spartans' offense off off the scoreboard. Nate Maloney (2 goals), Matt Gademske (2 goals), Hunter Lemieux (2 goals) and Mitch Streety (1 goal) extended the Roberts' lead to 15 at halftime. 

St. Thomas Aquinas would get themselves on the board after the break with back-to-back goals, as Timothy Zimnoch and Tyler Senatore would each score to make it 15-2 Roberts Wesleyan. Hunter Lemieux and Hayden Olcott would then trade goals to make it 16-3 in favor of the visitors from Rochester. The redhawks then scored three more times, as Matt Gademske would pick up his fifth of the game and Nate Maloney would score twice more to make it a 19-3 contest. Tyler Senator added his second of the game to make it 19-4, before goals by Nate Maloney (5th of the game), Reid Jackowski and Zach Cree would close out the quarter and give Roberts Wesleyan a commanding 22-4 advantage through three quarters of play.

In the fourth and final period, Roberts Wesleyan would light the lamp four more times, as Jordan Deats (3rd & 4th of the game), Hunter Lemieux (5th of the game) and Connor Jones all scored to make it 26-4 and close out the game in favor of the visiting Redhawks.

Ryan Guild (0-5) got the start in net for STAC and made 14 saves. Craig Peavy and Giorgio D'Angelo would relieve Guild for the second half and pick up 9 saves on 20 shots faced.

Roberts Wesleyan had a decisive 69-23 shots advantage for the game.

The Spartans will next host Mercy College College in their 2021 season finale on Tuesday, April 20 at 3:30pm.
