West Caldwell, N.J. – The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Lacrosse team fell to Caldwell University, 12-9, Saturday afternoon at Essex Valley Field. STAC goes to 1-6, while Caldwell moves to 2-3.
How it Happened
- STAC got off to an early lead scoring the first goal of the contest, as Braiden Struss tallied with 8:36 to go in the opening quarter.
- The Cougars scored the next four, to take a 4-1 lead early in the second quarter.
- The visiting Spartans tied the game at 4-4 with back-to-back-to-back goals by Peter Johnson, Carlos Aguilar and Jonathan Farley.
- Caldwell ended the quarter on a two goal rally, with a STAC goal in between. Edward Kelly picked up his first of the season with just under two minutes to play before halftime, to cut the deficit to one at 6-5.
- Following the break, Jack Margetson scored his tenth of the season to tie the game again, this time at 6-6.
- Three consecutive Caldwell goals put the hosts back on top 9-6, before Braiden Struss and Jack Margetson closed the third quarter scoring with tallies of their own to narrow the margin on the scoreboard back to one at 9-8.
- In the fourth quarter, Caldwell would strike for a pair of early goals, making it 11-8.
- Carlos Aguilar closed the STAC scoring, striking for a goal to cut the Cougars advantage to 11-9.
- Caldwell picked up an insurance goal in the final five minutes of action to walk away with the 12-9 triumph.

- Braiden Struss (two goals and three assists) totaled five points on the afternoon.
- Carlos Aguilar and Jack Margetson tallied two goals apiece.
- Edward Kelly, Jonathan Farley and Peter Johnson picked up a goal apiece in the contest.
- Craig Peavy (L, 0-1) got the start in the cage for the Spartans and made 12 saves on 24 shots faced.
