Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Lacrosse team saw five different players tally goals in an 11-5 loss to Molloy College on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.
STAC falls to 1-8 and 0-1 in conference play, while Molloy improves to 5-7 and 2-1 in the ECC.
How it Happened
- Molloy scored three of the four goals in the first quarter, as Nick Del Giorno scored twice and Ryan Downing tallied a goal for the Lions. Jack Margetson would get the lone goal for STAC to make it 3-1 for the visitors through 15 minutes of action.
- In second quarter action, Jack Egan and Sean Plasencia opened the stanza with goals to extend the Molloy lead to 5-1, before Jonathan Farley would score to cut the deficit to 5-2. Egan and Ryan Downing found the back of the cage in the final five minutes before halftime to give the Lions a 7-2 advantage at the break.
- Following the intermission, Ryan Downing and Jack Egan tallied the only goals of the third quarter to make it 9-2.
- St. Thomas Aquinas battled back in the final frame, outscoring Molloy 3-2 in the fourth, as Braiden Struss, Jason Beddows and Stephen Stolarski all scored goals. Mike D'Amato and Robert Gazzano earned their way onto the scoresheet with goals of their own to give the Lions the 11-5 win.

- Stephen Stolarski and Jack Margetson and Braiden Struss topped the offense with two points apiece on a goal and an assist each.
- Jason Beddows and Jonathan Farley picked up a goal apiece for the Spartans.
- Stolarski picked up a game-high 10 ground balls in the match.
- Giorgio D'Angelo (L, 1-6) got the start between the pipes for STAC and stopped 6 of 13 shots faced, with Craig Peavy coming on in relief late in the second half, and making 10 saves.
