Men's Lacrosse Closes 2022 Campaign, Falling to UDC 15-10

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Lacrosse team closed its 2022 season, falling to the University of the District of Columbia, 15-10 on Monday afternoon at Spartan Field. STAC wraps up its campaign with a 2-12 overall record and a 1-5 mark in ECC play, while UDC improves to 2-7 and 1-4.

How it Happened

  • The Spartans and Firebirds played to a 3-3 tie in the first quarter, alternating tallies, with Braiden Struss netting a pair of goals and Reno Molina picking up his first of the afternoon.
  • STAC outscored UDC by a 3-2 margin in the second stanza, as Peter Johnson and Braiden Struss (2) provided the offense for maroon and gold. The hosts took a slim 6-5 advantage into the halftime break.
  • Third quarter action saw STAC strike for three of the first four goals. Daniel Bartolomei, Jonathan Farley and Braiden Struss would all find the back of the net, giving St. Thomas Aquinas a 9-6 lead with just under nine minutes to play in the frame.
  • However, the Firebirds responded with five straight goals to close out the quarter to hold an 11-9 advantage.
  • In the fourth quarter, STAC was able to get a rally started late in the contest, as Jack Margetson scored just under three and a half minutes to play to make it 11-10.
  • UDC used the final two minutes of action to tally four more times to break the game open and take the match 15-10.
