Men's Lacrosse Downed By Frostburg State, 15-2

Frostburg, Md. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Lacrosse team opened the conference-portion of its 2024 schedule, falling to Frostburg State University, 15-2 on Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.

STAC drops to 2-7 overall and 0-1 in ECC play, while Frostburg St. improves to 4-2 and 1-0.

Frostburg State was paced by Bubba Love with four goals and three assists. Owen McCallum added three goals and an assist, while Chase Buckwalter tallied two goals and helper. Teammates Austin Sipes (1 goal, 3 assists), Alex Walstrum (1 goal, 1 assist), Drew Mullineaux (1 goal), Henry Sykes (1 goal), Blaine Karotko (1 goal) and Tyler Dooley (1 goal) also added to the totals for the Bobcats. Goalie Nate Jones (W, 4-2) made three saves, before being relieved by Lukasz Barmosz for the final 20 minutes of play. Barmosz made four stops.

Meanwhile, the Spartans' offense was led by Michael Huff with two goals on the afternoon. Goalie Craig Peavy (L, 2-7) got the start between the pipes for the maroon and gold and stopped 26 of 41 shots faced.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE: 

  • Frostburg St. outshot STAC 75-23 (41-9 on goal) for the game.
  • Michael Huff tallied a team-high six shots, with five going on net for St. Thomas Aquinas.
  • Craig Peavy gathered five of the Spartans 27 ground balls.
  • John Morris caused three Bobcats turnovers on the afternoon.
  • STAC won 4 of 20 faceoffs, with Austin Palen winning 14-of-15 draws.
