
Sparkill, N.Y. - Injuries to key personnel up front, along with the outstanding goaltending of both Logan Covey and Nate Jones, combined to stymie the St. Thomas Aquinas College offense in a 12-2 ECC Men's Lacrosse loss to Frostburg State University on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.
STAC slips to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in ECC play, while Frostburg State moves to 5-5 and 3-0.
Nathan Smith and Cam Wallace led the Spartans' offense with a goal apiece on the afternoon. Goalie Hayden Gaudette (L, 2-4) got the start between the pipes for the maroon and gold and stopped 10 of 17 shots faced, before being replaced by teammate Craig Peavy for the second half. Peavy turned aside 13 of 18 shots fired his way.
Meanwhile, Frostburg State was led by Wesley Phillips, who tallied four goals and four assists, while Jack Hooks added a pair of goals. Henry Sykes (1 goal, 2 assists), Seamus Kearney (1 goal), Christian Killoran (1 goal), Luke Roach (1 goal), Matt Williams (1 goal), and John Serina (1 goal) added to the total on the scoreboard for the Bobcats. Goalie Logan Covey (W, 4-4) was 12 for 12 in save attempts, before being spelled by Nate Jones for the final 10 plus minutes of the match. Jones stopped one of three shots sent his way.
