Spartans Win Sixth Consecutive Game

Tartara Earns Fourth Shutout of Season

The STAC men's soccer team continued their winning streak with a 1-0 victory over visiting Bloomfield College.  Only eight games into the 2008 campaign, the Spartans have already tied last years total number of wins.  Sophomore Guiseppe Chiarelli scored the lone goal of the game off a cross by junior Jon Michael Nabais.

Chiarelli, a midfielder from Franklin Square, NY scored from thirteen yards out off Nabais's assist.  The goal was Chiarelli's first of the season and third of his career.  The balance of talent and experience has helped the Spartans continue to play a well controlled game.

Goalkeeper Andrew Tartara recorded three saves in the shutout.  The Spartans have played very well in the backfield allowing limited shots on goal.  STAC has held its previous six opponents to two goals.  "The guys are focused on playing as a team and working hard" commented head coach Graham Brown.

The Spartans (6-1-1) will begin conference play this Saturday as they travel to Queens College (NY) for a 3:00 game.
