Strong Second Half Carries Spartans Over Concordia, 4-2

Spartans Tie School Record for Most Games Won

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat ECC opponent Concordia  in a road game yesterday.  The Spartans received strong offensive play from freshmen Remington Lee, who scored back to back goals doubling his season total.  Junior Jon Michael Nabais put the Spartans on the scoreboard at (53:38) recording his first goal of the season. Nabais's goal came off an assist from sophomore Brett Mielcarek.   Sophomore Konstantinos Sapountzis scored the fourth goal for the Spartans at (75:25).

The Spartans who have struggled to score recently made some adjustments in their formation that worked out to their benefit behind the excellent play of Lee.  The victory marks the seventh win of the season tying the most wins in the programs history since making the move to NCAA Divison II.

Sophomore Chris Hernadez and rookie William Miller had solid defensive performances for the Spartans.  Concordia's Stephan Dimitrov scored twice for the Clippers; both on penalty kicks.  STAC goalkeeper Andrew Tartara recorded one save for the outing.

The Spartans will be back in action tomorrow for their last home game of the season as they take on Mercy College at 3:30pm.  STAC will recognize seniors Gerlad Jones, Andres Gomez and Steven Rozycki in a pre-game ceremony.
