St. Thomas Aquinas junior Renan Lopes scored his first goal three minutes into the game off a deflected throw in from Peter O'Malley.  Lopes assisted on the next Spartan goal as he crossed a long ball that was headed in by teammate James Earl, putting them ahead 2-0.  The midfielder was not quite finished as Lopes headed in a goal of his own early in the second half to give STAC a 3-1 lead.

The Spartans gave up all three goals in the second half, two of which came just minutes apart at the 59:14 and 61:28 mark.  Maximilian Glebocki scored the first goal at 47:15 for St. Anselm and assisted on the second two scored by Justin Labonte and Justin Colella respectively.  However, Jon Michael Nabais had the final answer for both teams as the Spartan striker scored the final goal of the game lifting STAC to their first victory of the season.

Sophomore goal keeper Nicholas Croce recorded five saves for the game as both teams had eight shots on goal.  Senior Jesse Trajkovski recorded his second assist of the season with a direct kick that lead to Lopes second goal.   Freshman Brendan Flynn made his first career assist a memorable one as it led to the game winning goal.

The Spartans will return to action on Monday as they travel to Felician for a 7:00 PM game.
