The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team played a hard fought game at Bloomsburg College coming to a 1-1 tie.  Freshman Jorge Mera headed in a ball with seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.  The Spartans held on for the tie through two overtime periods.  Goalie Nicholas Croce had five saves for STAC.

Down 1-0 after Bloomsburgs Tyler Phillips scored a little over six minutes into the game the Spartans continued to challenge the Huskies as they out shot them 27-17.  Despite the solid play by goal keeper David Leiendecker who recorded ten saves the Spartans were able to stay alive and force the extra sessions.  Mera's goal was his only shot on goal for the contest and his first goal as a Spartan.

STAC will be back in action on Tuesday, September 15th as they play their first home game of the season.  The Spartans who have been on the road for the past three weeks are 1-3-1 and will face the District of Columbia in their next outing.  Game time is slated for 3:30 PM at North Rockalnd Soccer Association.
